Pre-season: Wellingham has strange injury, stranger hair.

I had begun writing some sort of recap to the weekend's action, but now something more interesting has happened.

New recruit Sharrod Wellingham injured his ankle on the weekend by...wait for it...landing awkwardly on a trampoline. Far be it from me to tell footballers what to do with their spare time, but for what possible reason could Wellingham have for trampolining? Is he joining Cirque Du Soliel? Perhaps. That would explain his rather Swift-esque hairstyle he debuted on the weekend.

All jokes aside though, he's out for the remainder of the meaningless Pre-season Cup and possibly the very meaningful season opener.

Not a great start to his Eagles career.

In the actual games, according to various media sources, the Eagles participated in 2 half games Saturday; losing narrowly to the Cats and easily accounting for the Dockers.

I can't be entirely sure, as I haven't seen any footage from either match, but I'm fairly confident that the late flurry of Geelong goals was an attempt by us to avoid being drowned in Sulky Scott's tears after the game. I'm actually surprised he travelled with the team, given the dangerous and unruly nature of the Eagles faithful.

But we easily defeated the Dockers, so all is right in the world. Plus, Lecras had a successful return.

You can read the truncated match reports here and here.
